I love how you can personalize a photo, by creating it in Storybook Creator plus. I do this alot for my daughter, with her friends or boyfriend. She went to a wedding with her boyfriend this weekend, and I asked to see the photos… it took me about five mintues to fancy this up, for her to post on her facebook page. The paper is actually from our Christmas collection. The wordart of from Bethany at ElegantWordart2.blogspot.com
Even though I am a consultant, I do still get overwhelmed by my many projects. It comes to a point when I once again have to start over… make a list and check it twice? Whatever it takes. I get myself into jams when I decide to do a gift album or something that takes my time away from my regular scrapbooking. I make a new project list I know that within a month or two, my son will have to have his Eagle scout court of honor. For this, I want both of his scout albums completed through getting his project done. Now I know that this is without a doubt over 250 pictures. Because it is near the date I need this, it goes to the top of the list. I also have decided to make him a hardcover 8X8 storybook of just his Eagle Scout Project. Then he is graduating in June 2011. Some would say why worry about it? Because I have his karate album done, and by then the scout albums will be completed (better be)… but here is my confession. He is now 18 years old and I havent started his baby books. My daughters has been ongoing. I got finished with her 6 albums for her graduation in 2005, but then found 600 pictures that I didnt use. Instead of putting these in a box and say extras, I am scrapbooking them and adding them to her existing albums. It has been a project for the last five years. Then there is my family albums. I havent done anything with the exception of my Christmas albums, which are up to date since 2007. Hmmm What to do about it? I got myself a few power sort boxes and started filing away. I love these things because not only are they organized the way I crop them, but I can store a few of them in a closet, on a cabinet or whatever.
My other projects to be organized are, hubbys family photos, to be first organized in a power sort and then put in picfolio albums. This way, he can go through them and add the journaling, because I dont know 3/4 of the people in the pictures. It makes a bit difficult to be creative when you dont know the story behind them. Then there are my dads photos. He passed away two years ago. Thank god I took the time each time we visited to get him to journal on the back of each photo. Again, alot of the people I didnt know. I finally found a relative that had my parents wedding photos. I grew up thinking they were all destroyed when my parents divorced. I have them and want them in an album as well.
Projects projects projects… what did I learn from this mess? First step, organize your photos, second step, decide which type of scrapbooking and what kind of album they will be going in. Next depending on how creative I feel, work on a project. If you are feeling overwhelmed by your projects, go back to the beginning. Make a list, organize your photos and then decide what type of project you are doing. It is far easier to see the end of the list when you do it this way.
Hope you have all your photos organized and ready to go.
Decided to jump right in when I saw a challenge asking for a card for someone you miss. Two of my nieces are in their first week of college, so I decided to make a card for them.
I used CM Cheerful Seasons cart for the butterfly and font. It is such a fun font. Glitz it up a bit as well. All paper is Creative Memories.
He finally got his Eagle project done, so on to the Board of review and then the Eagle Court of Honor… I have to get these finished and fast. LOL (what else is new?)
I used the following carts for this layout and all papers are from the Earthy Power palette… George, don juan, CM cheerful seasons, CM reminisce. I love all the borders on the CM Reminisce Cartridge…not just pretty ones, but several that can be used for “guy” pages…
This morning I finished my third card for the challenge this week. All cm paper and flowers.. just a bit of the cricut, but the border on the top is made with the reminisce cartridge.. . I love the black and white power palette. It always looks so nice with a splash of another color..
I have no idea why, but ever since I got back from our Showcase, my life has been completely stressed.. so soo busy.. hmmm trying to get a hold of what was normal and it isnt going very easy. Ever feel like that? ugh. My son did finish his Eagle Project, last sunday, two days before his 18th Birthday (they are not accepted after this date). Ok that could of stressed me. My daughter had applied and went to two interviews for a job she really really wanted. In the meantime she was stressed completely out, crabby and sad in any given moment. (she did get the job) Ok that could of stressed me out. Then it was getting my son registered books bought and order senior pictures for my son, who is my youngest. Ok that could of REALLY stressed me out. I hate that my baby is going into his senior year in High School. It makes me feel old.. this did not happen with my firstborn, daughter at all.
Want to know what is REALLY REALLY stressing me out? The fact that I got my order for my new cricut cartridges, and have had only moments to play with them. It is making me crazy. LOL I love being able to play with new paper, new product, but especially, the new cartridges..
Well this morning I put my foot down and got a bit of playing done. It was card challenge day and I decided as I layed in bed last night, I was going to play.
Here are two of the cards I made this morning. I promise you I will get my head together in the next couple of days, and show you more. 🙂 For both of these, the fine detail cuts were made with the new Reminisce Cartridge. This cartridge, by far is going to be a favorite of mine. It has a ton of borders that you can make for either cards or scrapbook pages. It is just awesome. I didnt put any sentiments on these cards yet, since I will be using them for my cricut fairy cards. The flowers on these are from the new reminisce power palette and they are paper flowers. Easy to use, easy to adhere.. love them too.
